Advanced Algebra: Math 8A
Instructor: Mrs. Livingston
Advanced Algebra I is a rigorous, high school level course focusing on linear and quadratic functions, exponents, proportional reasoning and graphic representation. This course aligns with the California Content Standards in Algebra. The class format includes cooperative learning activities, discussions, lectures, as well as presentations.
After successfully completing this class, students will be prepared for Geometry in 9th grade and Intermediate Algebra in 10th.

We will be using the new district adoption textbook by Prentice Hall, California Algebra I which has online components. Please check under Section Links for links to the textbook and other resources. The curriculum will be supplemented with other material that align with California Content Standards in Algebra and the NCTM Standards.

Advanced Algebra I will meet twice a week for 122 minutes each (Monday & Wednesday) and for 75 minutes on Thursdays.

Deviations from this will occur during parent/teacher conferences, assemblies, and testing. Students can expect to receive homework everytime that class meets.
